My story ...

I found out about my love for photography in my late 30s, and as a self-taught photographer I learned the basics on how to use my camera and started exploring life through it and experimenting on how to paint with light.
And I’ve been learning ever since.

Abstract

I find beauty in abstract, and I feel there are peaceful  messages engraved all around in our everyday life.

My Projects ..

I have worked in some projects in collaboration with other artists,  Projects/Books:

2011 Blueness of the Shadow   زرقة الظل (Book/Exhibition)

2015 Two Blues أزرقان  (Book/Exhibition)

2016 Diary from the Heinrich Böll    يوميات بيت هاينريش بول  (Book)

Blueness of The Shadow                 زرقة الظل.

My first project is Blueness of the Shadow, and it was documenting the Poet Qassim Haddad while calligraphing the poems of his work (Tarafa Ibn Al Wardah). The setting was the poet's room (workshop) in the writer's habitat where he was actually creating his work, and to reflect the real atmosphere of the place I was simply using his desk light without any added lighting, with his things scattered on his table, all over the place, his papers, pens, colors, ink, magnifier, books, and the shadows of his poems transforming the place into a magical universe ...

Photographs were exhibited at Al Rewaq Art space and printed in the photography book "Blueness of the Shadow زرقة الظل” (published by Oriental Press) that was part of the project "Tarafa Ibin Al Warda طرفة بن الوردة". The work was accompanied by poetry recital and manuscript for the poet Qassim Haddad .A Music album that was composed for this project by the composer Mohammed Haddad, which  was titled  Tarafa طرفة.

Two Blues أزرقان

We knew Vincent Van Gogh as that crazy painter who severed his ear to offer to a woman he once loved..

But that craziness has traveled with that magic in his paintings to every single house in every town of every country of this wide world.

As I went closer to his life and to his humanity rather than to his art, I discovered  that the human in him is the magic hidden in his paintings as if each painting contains a piece of his blue heart, as blue as the sky which Vincent fell in love with, a wide sky full of stars , suns , trees, and the eyes of the peasants, the workers, the miners, the farmers and their wives’ misery and their children’s moaning .. A human who loved people more than they loved him and lived their pain , their everyday misery, and the darkness of their mines, but he lived with his loneliness until life left him, when he was still filled with the passion for painting..

He gave us nature and paint to colour our own days, to free us from the darkness within our hearts. He left us with the blue horizon to sail far away with our imagination beyond our neighbour’s garden fence, the people, the society..

He’s crazy if he expected that..

He once said to Theo…

To wish this is permitted, but to expected to be - in my opinion - is not wise..
